CAMBRIDGE, ON – The PJHL kept fans entertained this weekend with a mix of high-scoring shootouts, clutch overtime winners, and strong individual performances across the league. Let’s take a look back at the biggest moments from Friday to Sunday.
Friday Highlights:
Paris Titans 3 – New Hamburg Firebirds 2 (OT)
Goaltending stole the show with Cole Stevens stopping 40 of 42 for New Hamburg and Connor Harmon making 44 saves for Paris. Ethan Arrojado’s two goals led the Titans before Trevor McDowell capped it off with the overtime winner.
Amherstview Jets 6 – Trent Hills Thunder 5 (OT)
A back-and-forth battle saw Trent Hills’ Brendan Reid notch a hat trick, but Amherstview escaped with the win. Andrew Botting scored just 49 seconds into overtime to lift the Jets, capping off his 2 goal, 2 assist performance.
Innisfil Spartans 3 – Huntsville Otters 0
Luke Rockbrune stood tall with a 41-save shutout, his second of the season, backstopping Innisfil to victory. Tyler Sweat added two goals in the third, while Josh McLean chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Aylmer Spitfires 5 – Thamesford Trojans 4 (OT)
In a game featuring 114 combined shots, Callum Besley’s 57 saves highlighted a strong night for Aylmer. Nick Serratore had two goals and an assist, but it was captain Noah Vandenbrink who ended it in overtime.
Woodstock Navy Vets 7 – Norwich Merchants 3
Norwich opened with a 3–0 lead, but Woodstock stormed back with seven unanswered goals. Owen Ireton was unstoppable, tallying three goals and two assists.
Exeter Hawks 5 – Petrolia Flyers 1
Exeter continued their hot start with strong team defense, killing all eight Petrolia power plays. Jack Dalrymple stopped 39 of 40 shots, while Harrison Meulensteen had two goals and two assists.
Fergus Whalers 14 – Kincardine Bulldogs 1
The Whalers’ dominant season rolled on with a 14-goal outburst. Eleven different players had multi-point games, including hat tricks from Jacob Lesser and Liam Eveleigh.
Saturday Highlights:
Grimsby Peach Kings 7 – Glanbrook Rangers 5
A four-goal third period powered Grimsby’s comeback win. Kaleb Lyttleton led the late charge with two goals and an assist in the final frame.
Thamesford Trojans 6 – Port Stanley Sailors 5 (OT)
After Friday’s OT heartbreak, Thamesford responded with an extra-time win. Ty Durston’s first of the season sealed it, despite a three-goal, one-assist effort from Port Stanley’s Sam Taylor.
Orillia Terriers 9 – Midland Flyers 2
Orillia’s offense erupted for nine, with Zeke Neely posting two goals and two assists. Easton Aldebert added two goals, while Wilson Mackey stopped 31 of 33.
Niagara Riverhawks 7 – Hagersville Hawks 1
Balanced scoring carried Niagara, with seven different goal scorers and a strong 32-save performance from Alex Csizmadia in his first win with the team.
Port Hope Panthers 3 – Frankford Huskies 2 (SO)
Braden Henderson’s 36 saves kept Port Hope alive, and Ryerson Minifie delivered the shootout winner as the Panthers secured their first win of the season.
North Middlesex Stars 3 – Mt. Brydges Bulldogs 0
A two-man show led the Stars: Zach Vanderwal scored all three goals, while rookie goalie Sean Shanahan earned his first career PJHL shutout with 29 saves.
Sunday Highlights:
Wellesley Applejacks 3 – Hespeler Shamrocks 2 (OT)
Dimitri Eleftheruadis tied the game in the third before Kian Harron scored the overtime winner. Nolan Carriere made 38 saves as Wellesley improved to 5-1-0-0.
Port Stanley Sailors 6 – Mt. Brydges Bulldogs 2
Will Richardson turned aside 49 of 51 shots in one of the weekend’s best goalie performances. Adam Hodgins chipped in with a goal and three assists to pace Port Stanley.
Trent Hills Thunder 3 – Napanee Raiders 2
Christian Lambert’s 42-save effort backstopped Trent Hills to a big upset win. Keegan Juchau added a goal and two assists in his PJHL debut.
