PJHL Weekend Recap – October 10–12, 2025

CAMBRIDGE, ON – It was a busy Thanksgiving weekend across the PJHL, with plenty of action and no shortage of drama on the ice. Fans were treated to high-scoring thrillers, standout goaltending performances, and a few overtime finishes as teams continued to battle for early-season positioning. Here’s a look back at all the highlights from an exciting weekend of PJHL hockey.

Friday Highlights 

Napanee Raiders (5) vs. Trent Hills Thunder (0)  
The Napanee Raiders picked up a home win over the Trent Hills Thunder, led by a sensational 40-save shutout from goaltender Jacob Brown. Offensively, Spencer Cranley led the way for the Raiders with two goals and one assist.

Streetsville Derbys (11) vs. Dunnville Mudcats (9)  
It was a high-scoring affair Friday night at Dunnville Memorial Arena, as the Derbys and Mudcats combined for 20 goals. The Derbys held on for the road win, powered by five goals in the third period and strong offensive performances from Aidan Russell (2G, 2A) and Mitchell Braedon (1G, 3A). For Dunnville, Mark Gibson stood out with four goals and one assist, while Mason Demedeiros added two goals and three assists.

Alliston Hornets (6) vs. Midland Flyers (4)  
The Alliston Hornets remained undefeated after a comeback win against the Midland Flyers. Midland jumped out to a 4–2 lead halfway through the second period, but the Hornets rallied with four unanswered goals. Duncan Grube and Tristen Pitt each scored twice to lead the comeback effort.

Georgina Ice (3) vs. Little Britain Merchants (2) (OT)  
The Georgina Ice stayed hot with a thrilling overtime win at home over the Little Britain Merchants. Despite a stellar performance from Merchants goaltender Colton Webster, who stopped 57 of 60 shots, it wasn’t enough — Sebastien Ferris netted the overtime winner to secure the victory for Georgina.

Tavistock Braves (3) vs. New Hamburg Firebirds (2)  
The Tavistock Braves continued to climb the South Doherty Division standings with a road win over New Hamburg. The Braves jumped out to a 3–0 lead and held on for a 3–2 victory, thanks in large part to goaltender Blake Richard, who stopped 38 shots.

Woodstock Navy Vets (4) vs. Dorchester Dolphins (3) (OT)
Another South Doherty Division thriller saw the Navy Vets edge the Dorchester Dolphins in overtime. After the Dolphins scored twice late in the third to force extra time, Cooper Vickerman played hero, scoring the overtime winner for Woodstock.

Norwich Merchants (1) vs. Hespeler Shamrocks (0)
It was a goaltending duel in Norwich on Friday night, with 70 combined shots and only one goal scored. Brandon Balazs broke the deadlock halfway through the third period with the game’s only goal, giving the Merchants the win. Goalie Darren Hagerty posted a 32-save shutout in the victory.

Saturday Highlights  

Port Perry Lumberjacks (8) vs. Clarington Eagles (7) (OT)  
Fans were treated to another high-scoring matchup in Clarington, as the Port Perry Lumberjacks came out on top in overtime. Despite a four-goal performance from Gianluca Meli of the Eagles, the Lumberjacks scored two late goals in the third before Andrew Naccarato-Soule sealed the win in overtime.

Muskoka Bears (2) vs. Stayner Siskins (1)  
The Muskoka Bears earned their third win of the season with a home upset over the Stayner Siskins. It was a tight, low-scoring game, highlighted by a stellar 54-save performance from Bears goaltender Kyle Downey.

Dorchester Dolphins (6) vs. Paris Titans (5)  
It was a close contest in Paris on Saturday night, with the Dolphins earning a one-goal win over the Titans. Dorchester’s scoring was spread across six different players, while Paris fought hard late with two third-period goals, but ultimately fell just short.

Exeter Hawks (6) vs. Lucan Irish (1)  
The Exeter Hawks picked up another strong road win, defeating the Lucan Irish 6–1 to continue their hot start to the season. Harrison Meulensteen led the way with four goals, including a first-period hat trick, while Ben Foster stopped 22 of 23 shots in net.

Mitchell Hawks (6) vs. Kincardine Bulldogs (2) 
The Mitchell Hawks stormed into Kincardine and pounced on the Bulldogs early, cruising to a 6–2 road victory. Owen Bridges and Owen Holloway each scored twice to lead the offense, while goaltender Tyler Teves was steady between the pipes, stopping 28 of 30 shots in the win.

Essex 73’s (2) vs. Mooretown Flags (1) 
The Essex 73’s stayed hot, picking up their seventh win of the season in a tight 2–1 battle against the Mooretown Flags. Despite an outstanding performance from Flags goaltender John Chartrand, who turned aside 47 of 49 shots, Essex’s Austin Guevremont and Cael McCabe provided all the offense needed to secure the victory.

Sunday Highlights  

Aylmer Spitfires (3) vs. North Middlesex Stars (1)  
The Aylmer Spitfires earned a big road win over the Stars on Sunday, backed by a strong performance from goaltender LJ Wilson, who turned aside 39 of 40 shots. The Spitfires sealed the win with timely third-period goals.

Hespeler Shamrocks (1) vs. Woodstock Navy Vets (0) (OT)  
Defense and goaltending were on full display in this matchup, with neither team finding the back of the net through regulation. Woodstock’s Kobe Nadalin made 41 saves, while Hespeler’s Tyse Loucks earned the shutout with 24 saves. Michael Boyle-Ricupero scored the overtime winner — the only goal of the game — to give the Shamrocks the victory.
