OHA: Permission to Speak Form

CAMBRIDGE, ON – As the off-season begins, the PJHL would like to remind all players and families that Permission to Speak is required before communicating, skating, or trying out with another Junior hockey team.

This applies to any movement:

  • Moving up a category
  • Moving down a category
  • Moving laterally within Junior hockey

These guidelines have been established through the Ontario Junior Development Committee representing Junior hockey across Ontario.

Off-Season Permission to Speak Window

The Permission to Speak process applies during the following period:

June 1 – September 10
OR until a team’s first regular season game, whichever comes first.

Important Information

Moving Up or Down a Category

If a player is moving up or down a category during the off-season:

Permission to Speak cannot be refused

  • No release is required
  • No compensation fee applies
  • An administrative release from the previous HCR roster is still required

If a player transfers between Junior hockey categories during the off-season and later returns during the same season to the category of their previous registered team:

No transfer fee will apply

Returning to the Same Category

If a player returns to the same category as their previous season’s registered team:

The player must return to that same team

Reminder to Players and Families

Before attending skates, camps, tryouts, or speaking with another team, players must first request their Permission to Speak form.
