The PJHL are pleased to announce that Owen Papp of the Dundas Blues and Owen Fischer of the New Hamburg Firebirds have been named the Player Of The Month for the West Conference for the month of January.
Bloomfield Division – Owen Papp won all five of his starts in the month of January, carrying 2.20 GAA and a 0.940 SV% in those games. Owen Papp has taken the league by storm in his first PJHL season, and has only lost twice in his 18 appearances. In his 18 games, he has 16 wins, while carrying a 2.56 GAA and a 0.921 SV% as a 16-year-old goaltender. As a rookie goalie, Papp currently sits 11th in GAA against average across the league, and seventh in save percentage, while currently in a five-way deadlock for first for wins. Papp has become an integral member for the Dundas Blues tandem, winning eight of their nine games.
Doherty Division – The Kitchener native has been well over a point a game player in the current season, currently only 10 points behind his career high in points with 45. In the 10 games in January, Fischer has 11 goals and picked up five assists for 16 points, and is currently riding a five-game goal streak into the month of February. Fischer currently has 22 goals and 23 assists, and is a strong reason the team is up on top of the Doherty division into February. Fischer leads his team in points, and is currently tied for second in points within the Doherty division.
Congratulations to both players on the achievement!
