Cambridge, ON – The Provincial Junior Hockey League is saddened by the news of the passing of long-time club president of the Uxbridge Bruins Cam Stewart. Cam passed away earlier this week with his family by his side. Cam was 78 years old.
Cam has been involved with the of the Uxbridge Bruins for over 25 years, and his passion and dedication to his community was felt by all around him and within the organization. Uxbridge Bruins General Manager Jay Simmonds reflects on his legacy within his community.
“Cam absolutely loved the Bruins.” Says Jay. “Every Friday night you could find him out at the gate welcoming fans as they entered the Bear Den and being the steady presence that made sure everything was running smoothly.”
“Cam will be deeply missed, by his family, by the Bruins organization, and by the entire community of Uxbridge. But we know his spirit, hard work, and legacy will live on through the years, and we will think of him often.”
Cam’s kindness and his generosity was recognized with everyone he’s had the chance to interact with. Cam was also a fierce advocate and team member of the PJHL and junior hockey. His passion for growing junior hockey in Ontario was felt by his peers and colleagues.
“Cam Stewart was a true gentleman.” Says PJHL Commissioner Terry Whiteside. “He always presented his thoughts and opinions in a very respectful way. He will be greatly missed by those that were fortunate enough to meet him and know him.
Visitation for Cam will be held at Low and Low Funeral Home in Uxbridge on Sunday June 9th from 1 pm to 4 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated from Eastridge Evangelical Missionary Church, 12485 Tenth Line on Monday June 10th at 11:00 am.
