New Playoff Structure for 2022: PJHL turns to tournament style championship
The PJHL is proud to announce that we have plans in place to run a Schmalz Cup Championship Tournament May 7-15, 2022 culminating at the University of Guelph from May 13th to the 15th.
The tournament will see the four conference champions compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings for the semi-finals to be played on May 14th. The championship final game will be played Sunday, May 15th.
We have recently announced a contest to solicit ideas for a logo and a name to highlight the Schmalz Cup Championship. The PJHL is very proud of the history of the league and the Schmalz Cup and we would like to see ideas that incorporate the pride and commitment it takes to take a run at the Schmalz Cup. There have been several submissions thus far. Many of the submissions celebrate the Schmalz and some have included great logo ideas. We encourage all stakeholders of the PJHL to send us your great ideas.
Please watch for an announcement in the near future regarding a Title sponsor for the Schmalz Cup Championship.
The PJHL is made up of 63 franchises across Ontario and is the largest junior hockey league in the world. We are proud to provide opportunities for over 1300 players to play competitive hockey while continuing to pursue their post-secondary education and career ambitions.
