CAMBRIDGE, ON – From Friday through Sunday, the PJHL schedule produced a mix of statement wins, comeback efforts, and hard-fought divisional matchups as teams continued to jockey for position in the standings.
Friday Highlights
Blenheim Blades (3) vs Lakeshore Canadians (2) OT
Two West Stobbs powerhouses faced off in Lakeshore as the visiting Blades took on the host Canadians in a key matchup in the race for second place in the division. Blenheim opened the scoring, but Lakeshore responded with two goals in the second period. A late third-period goal from Andrew Goulet tied the game for the Blades and forced overtime. David Brown played spoiler on the road, scoring the overtime winner to secure a massive victory for Blenheim.
Tavistock Braves (9) vs Dorchester Dolphins (2)
The Tavistock Braves piled on the offense at home against the visiting Dorchester Dolphins. Tavistock’s offensive surge was powered by multiple multi-point performances, including four points each from Yann Raskin, Evan Palubeski, Ryan McKellar, and Carter Arseneau, en route to a dominant 9–2 victory.
Streetsville Derbys vs Grimsby Peach Kings
The Streetsville Derbys traveled to Peach King Arena to take on Grimsby in an exciting Friday night matchup. After trading goals through the first two periods, the game was tied heading into the final frame. Derby standout Braedon Mitchell scored early in the third period, while Caleb Shuker shut the door the rest of the way, finishing with a 41-save performance as Streetsville defeated the Peach Kings on the road.
Amherstburg Admirals (5) vs Dresden Kings (4) OT
With both teams battling for divisional positioning in the West Stobbs, this matchup showcased why they sit so close in the standings. Dresden jumped out to an early lead and carried a 3–1 advantage into the third period. After trading goals early in the final frame, Jayden Seguin scored twice in under 30 seconds to tie the game for Amherstburg and force overtime. Riding the momentum, Zach Vaillancourt scored the overtime winner to complete the Admirals’ comeback.
Uxbridge Bruins (6) vs Georgina Ice (1)
In a key East Orr clash, the division-leading Uxbridge Bruins held firm against the Georgina Ice. After an early second-period goal from Georgina forward Sebastien Ferris, the Bruins responded with five consecutive goals, including two from Jordan Fitger, to earn a convincing 6–1 victory.
Stayner Siskins (4) vs Penetang Kings (3) OT
Two surging teams in the North Carruthers division met as Stayner and Penetang battled for positioning near the top of the standings. The Kings struck first and built a 3–1 lead heading into the third period. An early goal from Jax Bellwood sparked the comeback for Stayner, and Tait Lightheart tied the game late in regulation to force overtime. Newly acquired Bellwood ended it early in overtime, lifting the Siskins to a 4–3 win and keeping them ahead of Penetang in the standings.
Saturday Highlights
Wingham Ironmen (5) vs Kincardine Bulldogs (3)
The Wingham Ironmen hosted the visiting Kincardine Bulldogs in one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. With the teams trading goals throughout the night, the game was tied 3–3 with under four minutes remaining. Ironmen defenseman Tyson Fischer scored just his second goal of the season to put Wingham ahead, before an empty-net goal sealed a 5–3 home victory.
Aylmer Spitfires (5) vs Exeter Hawks (4)
Despite icing a depleted lineup, the Aylmer Spitfires delivered a complete team effort against the West Yeck-leading Exeter Hawks. Aylmer poured in four goals in the second period to take a 4–2 lead into the third. Exeter responded with two power-play goals to tie the game, but Donovan Appleford scored late in regulation to secure a stunning Spitfires win. Goaltender Callum Besley faced an astounding 78 shots, stopping 74 in a remarkable performance.
Orillia Terriers (3) vs Midland Flyers (2)
The Orillia Terriers welcomed the Midland Flyers in a tightly contested matchup that came down to the final seconds. Strong goaltending and timely scoring highlighted the game, including a short-handed goal from Midland’s Josh Underwood late in the third to tie it at 2–2. With just nine seconds remaining, Jace Schaly scored his second goal of the night to lift Orillia to a thrilling 3–2 victory.
Mitchell Hawks (3) vs Mount Forest Patriots (2) OT
Mount Forest entered Saturday night riding momentum in the North Pollock division but faced a tough test on the road against the Mitchell Hawks. Mitchell struck for two goals early in the second period, but the Patriots stayed in the fight. With under two minutes remaining, Jaxon Gawel tied the game to force overtime. Nathan Jewitt then scored his 11th goal of the season—and his second game-winner of the year—to give the Hawks a 3–2 overtime upset.
Wellesley Applejacks vs Hespeler Shamrocks
A strong South Doherty matchup between the rising Wellesley Applejacks and the stingy Hespeler Shamrocks required extra time. After Evan Silveria scored late in regulation to tie the game for Hespeler, Ben Morton ended it early in overtime to give Wellesley a crucial win in the race for first place in the division.
Sunday Highlights
Glanbrook Rangers (7) vs Port Dover Sailors (6) SO
After a high-scoring win on Saturday, Port Dover stayed hot offensively, but the Glanbrook Rangers matched them stride for stride. The teams traded goals throughout, with offensive outbursts from Port Dover forwards Nathaniel Miron and Jacob Passmore, while Joshua Cacciola led the charge for Glanbrook. Cacciola scored the tying goal with just six seconds remaining to force overtime. With no winner in extra time, the game went to a shootout, where Jack Ormond scored the deciding goal to lift the Rangers to victory.
Huntsville Otters (4) vs Stayner Siskins (2)
The Huntsville Otters picked up a massive upset win over the Stayner Siskins with a strong third-period surge. Stayner carried a 2–1 lead into the final frame, but goals from Sebastien Gagnon and Owen Rueck in the opening five minutes swung the momentum. Huntsville added insurance to secure a 4–2 victory.
Napanee Raiders (7) vs Trent Hills Thunder (6) SO
Napanee and Trent Hills put on an offensive showcase that featured seven goals in the first period alone. Napanee scored twice late in the third period to tie the game and force overtime. The contest was decided in a shootout, where the Raiders converted on two of their three attempts to earn the win.
