CAMBRIDGE, ON – With the PJHL regular season winding down, final standings are beginning to take shape and playoff implications are intensifying across the league. Late-season matchups carried added weight this weekend, as teams battled for positioning, division leads, and crucial points in several high-stakes games from Friday through Sunday.
Friday Highlights
Napanee Raiders (3) vs. Port Hope Panthers (2) – OT
It was a hard-fought battle Friday night between the Napanee Raiders and the Port Hope Panthers, with the game requiring overtime to decide a winner. Napanee opened the scoring late in the second period before Port Hope responded with back-to-back power-play goals to take a 2–1 lead late in the third. Just 18 seconds later, Ryan Aldridge answered for the Raiders to force overtime. Extra time did not last long, as Andrew Carr continued his knack for clutch scoring, netting the overtime winner—his sixth game-winning goal of the season.
Grimsby Peach Kings (9) vs. Port Dover Sailors (2)
The Grimsby Peach Kings erupted for nine goals, bouncing back in a big way after a difficult stretch the previous weekend. Despite trailing 2–0 after the first period, the Peach Kings responded with nine consecutive goals, fueled by contributions from seven different goal scorers. Key performances from Evan Storie, Jordan Marconi, Marcus Harris, Brody Scott, and Ryan Vickers helped power Grimsby to the decisive victory.
Huntsville Otters (5) vs. Muskoka Bears (3)
The North Carruthers rivalry delivered another intense chapter as Huntsville and Muskoka traded goals through the first two periods. Jack Seney gave Muskoka a 3–2 lead heading into the third, but a late penalty at the end of the second period proved costly. Starting the third on the power play, Owen Rueck tied the game for Huntsville, swinging momentum in the Otters’ favour. Jack MacInally followed with the go-ahead goal and later added an empty-netter to seal the 5–3 win.
Mt. Brydges Bulldogs (3) vs. Petrolia Flyers (2) – OT
With five teams separated by just three points atop the West Yeck Division, every game carries added significance—and Friday’s matchup between Mt. Brydges and Petrolia was no exception. The contest became a goaltending duel, with Bulldogs netminder Logan Griffiths stopping 49 of 51 shots and Flyers goalie Theron Morningstar turning aside 51 of 54. After regulation solved nothing, Logan Gianelli scored six minutes into overtime to secure a massive two points for Mt. Brydges.
Saturday Highlights
Kincardine Bulldogs (6) vs. Walkerton Capitals (1)
The Kincardine Bulldogs defended home ice at the Davidson Centre with an emphatic performance against the Walkerton Capitals, who entered the night chasing Kincardine for fourth place in the Pollock Division. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4–0 lead before Walkerton found the scoresheet. Tyler Kelly and Zasha Ortman each recorded multi-goal games, while Blake Beitz was solid in net, stopping 39 of 40 shots.
Stayner Siskins (6) vs. Orillia Terriers (5)
The Stayner Siskins continued their surge in a thrilling matchup with the Orillia Terriers, as the race for first place in the Carruthers Division intensified. Entering the game on an eight-game winning streak, Stayner faced a late challenge after Orillia took a 5–4 lead midway through the third period. Kayden Winch quickly responded with the tying goal, and following a late Terriers penalty, Tait Lightheart scored on the power play with 48 seconds remaining to secure the 6–5 win, extending the Siskins’ streak to nine.
Lakeshore Canadiens (3) vs. Mooretown Flags (2)
The Lakeshore Canadiens earned a tightly contested 3–2 victory over the Mooretown Flags. Lakeshore came out strong in the first period, highlighted by a short-handed goal from Noah Giudice to take a 2–0 lead. Mooretown battled back to even the score, but Nicholas Graniero responded with the game-winning goal as the Canadiens continue their push to lock up second place in the Stobbs Division.
Tavistock Braves (3) vs. Woodstock Navy Vets (2)
The Tavistock Braves added further drama to the Doherty Division race with a crucial 3–2 road win over the Woodstock Navy Vets. Woodstock took a 2–1 lead with back-to-back goals in the second period, appearing to be in control. However, Nicholas Hemby scored his first goal of the season to tie the game, and Keegan Metcalf followed shortly after with the game-winner. The victory keeps Tavistock firmly in the hunt for the division’s top seed.
Sunday Highlights
Port Perry Lumberjacks (2) vs. Uxbridge Bruins (4)
Sunday afternoon featured an Orr Division matchup with major standings implications, as the Uxbridge Bruins hosted the Port Perry Lumberjacks. Uxbridge seized control early, scoring the game’s first three goals in the opening period. Port Perry was unable to fully recover, as the Bruins held on for the 4–2 win. The result strengthens Uxbridge’s grip atop the division, while Port Perry continues to battle Clarington for third place.
