PJHL Weekend Recap – January 2-4, 2026

CAMBRIDGE, ON – The new year began with urgency across the PJHL, as teams fought for every point in a weekend filled with playoff-level intensity. Here are this weekends best finishes.

Friday Highlights

Port Perry Lumberjacks (4) v Georgina Ice (1)

In a battle of East Orr Division rivals, the Port Perry Lumberjacks traveled to Georgina with key standings points on the line. Port Perry struck early, opening the scoring just three minutes in on a goal from Parker Lemay. The Lumberjacks added two more before the Ice could respond, building a commanding lead that proved too much to overcome. Port Perry skated away with a convincing 4-1 road victory.

Dresden Kings (5) v Blenheim Blades (3)

With the Blenheim Blades battling near the top of the West Stobbs Division, they faced a tough test on the road in Dresden. The Kings came out flying, highlighted by Cameron Graham’s goal just 17 seconds into the game. Dresden carried a 5-1 lead into the final frame before Blenheim mounted a late push with two early third-period goals. It wasn’t enough, however, as Graham’s hat-trick powered the Kings to a 5-3 upset win.

Clarington Eagles (4) v Uxbridge Bruins (2)

Another East Orr matchup saw the division-leading Uxbridge Bruins host the Clarington Eagles. Despite Uxbridge’s strong hold atop the standings, Clarington struck early and maintained momentum throughout. Back-to-back goals in the third period extended the Eagles’ lead to 4-1, proving decisive in a 4-2 victory over the Bruins.

Hanover Barons (3) v Mitchell Hawks (2)

Fans in Hanover were treated to a tightly contested matchup as the Barons hosted the Mitchell Hawks. With both teams trading goals and strong goaltending on display, the game was tied 2-2 heading into the third period. With time winding down, Wylie Birkett scored a late power-play goal to lift the Barons to a thrilling 3-2 win.

Saturday Highlights

Picton Pirates (3) v Napanee Raiders (2) SO

The Picton Pirates and Napanee Raiders needed extra time—and then some—to decide a winner Saturday afternoon. Picton scored the first two goals of the game before Napanee responded late in the second period. Spencer Cranley tied the game late in the third, sending it to overtime. With no winner decided, Picton converted on all three shootout attempts to secure the victory. Pirates goaltender Nolan Lane was outstanding, stopping 42 of 44 shots.

Dorchester Dolphins (6) v Paris Titans (3)

Dorchester showcased its offensive depth with multiple multi-point performances from L.J. Legault, Nolan Burnside, Owen Stoddard, and Cole Shoup. After a scoreless first period, the Dolphins erupted offensively, pulling away from the Paris Titans. Jeremy Hardeman was solid in goal, turning aside 37 of 40 shots in the 6-3 victory.

Mt. Brydges Bulldogs (5) v Lucan Irish (3)

The Mt. Brydges Bulldogs continued their climb in the tight West Yeck Division as they hosted the Lucan Irish. Lucan held a 2-1 lead after the first, but the Bulldogs responded with three consecutive goals in the second period to seize control. Noah Cameron capped off a four-point night with a late third-period goal, sealing the 5-3 win.

Mitchell Hawks (5) v Walkerton Capitals (4) OT

In an overtime thriller, the Mitchell Hawks and Walkerton Capitals delivered a dramatic contest. Walkerton surged ahead with three second-period goals to take a 4-2 lead into the third. The Hawks answered early with goals from Owen Hunt and Nathan Jewitt to force overtime. Ryan Gansevles completed the comeback, scoring the overtime winner to secure a 5-4 victory.

New Hamburg Firebirds (6) v Hespeler Shamrocks (5) OT

With the South Doherty Division tightening, New Hamburg and Hespeler met in a game that lived up to expectations. Hespeler built an early 4-1 lead and extended it to 5-3 late in the third. Refusing to quit, the Firebirds scored twice in quick succession to force overtime. Ben Oliver ended it just 35 seconds into the extra frame, completing the comeback win for New Hamburg.

Sunday Highlights

Dunnville Mudcats (5) v Port Dover Sailors (4) OT

Overtime drama continued Sunday as the Dunnville Mudcats and Port Dover Sailors went back and forth in a tightly contested matchup. Dunnville’s Ethan Cloutier scored a shorthanded goal midway through the third, but Port Dover’s Dylan Courrier tied the game with just one minute remaining. In overtime, Dylan Coers netted the winner to give the Mudcats a 5-4 victory.

Norwich Merchants (4) v Tavistock Braves (3)

With both teams surging near the top of the South Doherty Division, this matchup carried significant weight. Norwich continued its strong run at home, highlighted by Nathan Murphy’s go-ahead power-play goal with under two minutes remaining. The Merchants held on to secure a 4-3 win and cap off an impressive weekend.

Stayner Siskins (5) v Muskoka Bears (1)

The Stayner Siskins continued to pile up wins against a determined Muskoka Bears squad. With the game tied 1-1 in the second period, Riley Pope took over, scoring twice late in the period before completing his hat trick late in the third. His effort propelled Stayner to a 5-1 victory.
