PJHL Weekend Recap – January 23-25, 2026

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Weather played a factor across the PJHL this weekend, limiting the schedule and postponing most Sunday matchups. The games that did go ahead on Friday and Saturday made the most of the opportunity, delivering competitive battles and important divisional outcomes.

Friday Highlights

Lakeshore Canadiens (4) vs. Blenheim Blades (2)

A key West Stobbs Division matchup opened the weekend as the Blenheim Blades visited the packed Atlas Tube Centre to take on the Lakeshore Canadiens. With both teams battling for second place as the season enters its final stretch, the Blades jumped out to a 2–0 lead after the opening period. Lakeshore responded with three consecutive goals in the second period and added an empty-net marker late to secure the 4–2 victory.

Little Britain Merchants (3) vs. Georgina Ice (2) – OT

The Little Britain Merchants continued their recent strong play, earning an overtime upset over the Georgina Ice. After a scoreless first two periods, Georgina carried a 1–0 lead into the third before Emerson Wilkinson extended it to 2–0 on the power play. Little Britain rallied back, capped by a late power-play equalizer from Curtis Misner. Just 50 seconds into overtime, Filip Djordjevic completed the comeback with the game-winning goal.

Tavistock Braves (5) vs. New Hamburg Firebirds (2)

The Tavistock Braves continued to climb the South Doherty standings with a crucial win over the New Hamburg Firebirds. The victory featured multi-goal performances from Yann Raskin and Ethan Stover. Stover opened the scoring with two first-period goals, while Raskin added to his league-leading production, bringing his season total to 31 goals—fourth most in the PJHL.

Dunnville Mudcats (7) vs. Niagara RiverHawks (6) – OT

In a high-scoring back-and-forth affair that required overtime, the Dunnville Mudcats edged the Niagara RiverHawks. Dunnville received multi-goal performances from Mason Demedeiros, Carson Bennett, and Kylar Brocklebank, while Niagara was led by a four-point night from Connor Thomson-Dick. Dunnville held a 6–3 lead entering the third period, but Niagara stormed back, tying the game on a goal from Cole Bateman with just 10 seconds remaining. Carson Bennett sealed the win with his second goal of the game in overtime.

Saturday Highlights

Frankford Huskies (3) vs. Lakefield Chiefs (2)

A battle between the top two teams in the East Tod Division lived up to expectations as the Lakefield Chiefs visited the Frankford Huskies. The Chiefs struck early, but Frankford responded with three unanswered goals to take control. The Huskies held on for a 3–2 victory, tightening the race at the top of the division.

Wingham Ironmen (3) vs. Kincardine Bulldogs (2) – OT

Another overtime thriller unfolded between the Wingham Ironmen and Kincardine Bulldogs. The teams traded goals throughout the game before Jack McDonald tied it at 2–2 for Wingham with five minutes remaining. A tripping penalty in overtime proved costly for Kincardine, as Kaeden MacDonald converted on the power play to secure the Ironmen victory.

Muskoka Bears (3) vs. Orillia Terriers (2) – SO

The Muskoka Bears pulled off an upset over the Orillia Terriers behind an outstanding performance from goaltender Kyle Downey, who made 47 saves. Muskoka struggled to generate offense, but Kevin Demeules scored a late equalizer to force overtime. In the shootout, Jack Seney scored the lone goal to seal the win for the Bears.

North Middlesex Stars (5) vs. Aylmer Spitfires (4)

In the final West Yeck matchup of the weekend, the North Middlesex Stars tightened an already close divisional race with a 5–4 win over the Aylmer Spitfires. The Stars were fueled by five consecutive goals before Aylmer mounted a late push, cutting the deficit to one. North Middlesex held firm to close out the victory.
