PJHL Weekend Recap – January 30 – Febraury 1, 2026

CAMBRIDGE, ON – With the regular season entering its final stretch, every game carries increased playoff implications across the PJHL. Teams battled for crucial points all weekend, delivering statement wins, dramatic comebacks, and momentum-shifting results as the race toward the postseason continues.

Friday Highlights

Georgina Ice (9) vs. Caledon Golden Hawks (0)
The Georgina Ice took care of business Friday night at home in front of a packed crowd, highlighted by several strong individual performances. Austin Paulmert set the tone early, scoring twice within the first five minutes of the game. Georgina recorded nine different multi-point performances and received an 18-save shutout from Vann Kulba—his first of the season. Kulba has now won all four of his appearances with the Ice.

Dunnville Mudcats (5) vs. Grimsby Peach Kings (4) OT
The Dunnville Mudcats played spoiler, snapping the Peach Kings’ nine-game winning streak with a 5–4 overtime victory. Dunnville controlled much of the game through the first two periods, building a 4–2 lead behind two goals from captain Riley Smyth. Grimsby rallied late, tying the game in the final minute on a goal from Ryan Vickers to force overtime. However, following a Vickers penalty, Dylan Coers capitalized on the power play to seal the win for the Mudcats.

Hanover Barons (5) vs. Mount Forest Patriots (2)
In a North Pollock Division showdown, the Mount Forest Patriots visited the P&H Centre to face the first-place Hanover Barons. Hanover appeared in control early after scoring two late goals in the first period. The Patriots responded, eventually tying the game midway through the third period. The Barons then erupted for three goals in just over three minutes from McGillivray, Eurig, and Dukeshire to secure the 5–2 victory.

Norwich Merchants (8) vs. Paris Titans (2)
The Norwich Merchants continued their climb in the South Doherty Division with an 8–2 win over the Paris Titans. Norwich built an 8–0 lead midway through the second period, featuring seven different goal scorers. Defensemen Graydon Finch and Cody Kumm each recorded two points in their debuts on the Norwich blue line, as the Merchants cruised to another convincing win.

Saturday Highlights

Wingham Ironmen (4) vs. Walkerton Capitals (3) SO
Three periods and overtime were not enough to decide Saturday night’s matchup between the Walkerton Capitals and Wingham Ironmen. Sami Douglas-Najem scored early in the third period to extend Walkerton’s lead to 3–1. Wingham responded quickly, cutting the deficit to one before Kaeden MacDonald tied the game on a late power-play goal. In the shootout, the Ironmen converted on all four attempts to complete the comeback victory.

Amherstview Jets (7) vs. Port Hope Panthers (2)
The Amherstview Jets picked up one of two weekend wins with a 7–2 victory over the Port Hope Panthers. Forward Carter McKee led the way with one goal and three assists, contributing to a 10-point weekend. Amherstview scored six unanswered goals to open the game, setting the tone early and never looking back.

Mt. Brydges Bulldogs (6) vs. Thamesford Trojans (5) OT
Following the completion of a previously resumed game, the Bulldogs and Trojans delivered another tightly contested matchup. Mt. Brydges jumped out early with four straight goals to close the first period. Thamesford captain Brett Busby helped rally the Trojans with two goals, eventually tying the game. After the Bulldogs regained the lead, Thamesford responded again, with Davin Gray scoring a clutch goal to force overtime. JJ Fogarty ended the game in overtime with his 26th goal of the season for Mt. Brydges

Sunday Highlights

Stayner Siskins (7) vs. Huntsville Otters (1)
The Stayner Siskins’ winning streak continued with a dominant 7–1 victory over the Huntsville Otters, moving them into first place in the North Carruthers Division. Jax Bellwood led the way with two goals and two assists, while goaltender Dayton Strongman turned aside 33 of 34 shots in the win.

Fergus Whalers (3) vs. Hanover Barons (0)
In the PJHL Spotlight Matchup, the Fergus Whalers hosted the Hanover Barons in a key battle atop the North Pollock Division. Fergus set the tone early with a goal from Everett Force and added two more as the game progressed. Goaltender Noah Lundgren earned the shutout, stopping all 19 shots he faced. The victory extended the Whalers’ winning streak to seven games.

Blenheim Blades (5) vs. Amherstburg Admirals (4) OT
In a pivotal West Stobbs Division matchup with major standings implications, the Blenheim Blades and Amherstburg Admirals needed overtime to decide a winner. The teams traded goals through regulation, entering the third period tied 2–2. After more back-and-forth scoring, Nelson DeKoning scored a late shorthanded goal to tie the game at 4–4. David Brown then ended it just 47 seconds into overtime, lifting the Blades to a crucial win.
