CAMBRIDGE, ON – It was another action-packed weekend across the PJHL, featuring massive comebacks, standout goaltending, and more than a few emotional finishes. From overtime winners to shootout marathons, teams delivered high-intensity hockey in every conference. Here’s a full breakdown of the weekend’s action, along with the Top 10 performances that stood above the rest.
Friday Highlights
Clarington Eagles (5) vs. Georgina Ice (0)
In front of more than 500 fans in Georgina, the Ice faithful were treated to a spirited matchup—but Clarington spoiled the home atmosphere. Leading just 1–0 after two periods, the Eagles capitalized on a chaotic third period that featured more than 50 minutes in penalties, including a goalie fight between Nate Gillis and Aidan Lindsay. Clarington struck four times in the final frame, including two power-play goals, as Nate Gillis posted a 40-save shutout in a commanding 5–0 win.
Amherstview Jets (8) vs. Trent Hills Thunder (4)
This one was a back-and-forth battle until penalties caught up with the Thunder. Tied 4–4 midway through the third, Amherstview exploded for three power-play goals in under two minutes, then added an empty-netter to secure the 8–4 victory.
Glanbrook Rangers (10) vs. Streetsville Derbys (5)
A penalty-filled night in Streetsville saw the Derbys rack up over 100 penalty minutes, opening the door for a red-hot Rangers offense. Glanbrook scored five times in the second period alone on their way to a 10–5 win, earning a big road statement.
Wheatley Sharks (5) vs. Dresden Kings (4) – OT
Dresden came out flying with early goals from Cameron and Colton Graham, taking a 3–0 lead. But Wheatley roared back, tying the game before trading late third-period goals. In overtime, Austin Frazier played hero, completing the comeback for the Sharks.
Penetang Kings (3) vs. Alliston Hornets (0)
Penetang earned one of the upsets of the weekend, shutting out the division-leading Hornets behind a 42-save shutout from Landon Simec—his first of the season.
Saturday Highlights
Muskoka Bears (4) vs. Huntsville Otters (1)
After a scoreless first two periods, Muskoka erupted for four goals in the third. Goaltender Kyle Downey was outstanding, stopping 42 of 43 shots to carry the Bears to a 4–1 win.
Niagara Riverhawks (3) vs. Dundas Blues (1)
The Riverhawks stayed hot thanks to a hat trick from Michael Colavecchia and a strong performance from Stanley Mannell, who stopped 29 of 30 shots in a tight defensive effort.
Wellesley Applejacks (7) vs. Paris Titans (5)
This may have been the comeback of the weekend. Down 5–4 with just over two minutes remaining, Ian Speiran scored the tying and game-winning goals within a minute, part of a three-goal surge in the final 120 seconds that lifted Wellesley to an electric home victory.
Port Stanley Sailors (5) vs. Thamesford Trojans (4) – OT
Thamesford’s early push was led by two goals from Davin Gray, but the Sailors chipped away. After Trent Clinton tied the game late, Sam Taylor finished it off in overtime to secure the win.
Sunday Highlights
Fergus Whalers (8) vs. Mount Forest Patriots (2)
After a competitive opening frame, Fergus took over—scoring seven unanswered goals. Multi-goal efforts from Liam Eveleigh and Ryan Forwell powered the Whalers to a decisive 8–2 win.
Hespeler Shamrocks (2) vs. Woodstock Navy Vets (1) – SO
This defensive showdown needed 12 rounds of a shootout to find a winner. Woodstock scored early, but Shamrocks goalie Nolan Carriere stopped the next 11 attempts. Goals from Will Ross and ultimately Cohen Alexander sealed the thrilling victory for Hespeler.
Kincardine Bulldogs (5) vs. Walkerton Capitals (4) – OT
Walkerton built a 3–0 lead before Kincardine stormed back with four straight goals. Just when the Bulldogs thought they had it wrapped up, Sami Douglas-Najem tied the game with six seconds left. In overtime, Caleb Bowler completed the Bulldogs’ resilient win.
Blenheim Blades (9) vs. Walpole Island Wild (2)
The Blades put on an offensive clinic, firing 80 shots and getting points from 14 different players in a dominant 9–2 home victory.
