PJHL Weekend Recap – October 3–5, 2025

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Another thrilling weekend of PJHL hockey is in the books, featuring overtime winners, shootout drama, and plenty of standout performances from across the league. Let’s take a look back at some of the top matchups and storylines from around the PJHL this past weekend.

Friday Highlights

Georgina Ice (5) vs Clarington Eagles (3) 
After Clarington jumped out to an early 3–0 lead, Georgina stormed back with five unanswered goals to claim a 5–3 home victory. Captain Austin Paulmert led the comeback with two goals and one assist, while the Ice shut the door defensively in the third period. 

Norwich Merchants (3) vs New Hamburg Firebirds (2) OT 
In a goaltending duel between Darren Hagerty (Norwich) and Deklan Jermol (New Hamburg), it took extra time to find a winner. Merchants captain Brandon Balazs played hero, scoring the overtime winner to lift Norwich to a 3–2 victory. 

Streetsville Derbys (5) vs Grimsby Peach Kings (3) 
Two of the top South Bloomfield Division teams battled it out in Grimsby. Tied 3–3 late, Aiden Russell scored the go-ahead goal for Streetsville and later sealed the win with an empty-netter as the Derbys took it 5–3. 

Woodstock Navy Vets (10) vs Hespeler Shamrocks (0) 
It was a one-sided affair in Woodstock as the Navy Vets exploded for 10 goals while Tyler Bouck posted a shutout. Key performers included Brodie Kearns (2G, 3A), Cooper Vickerman (2G, 2A), and Dailen Fousek, who notched a hat trick. 

Midland Flyers (4) vs Penetang Kings (3) SO 
In a tight North Carruthers Division matchup, the Flyers outlasted the Kings in a shootout. Jack Pinder came up clutch, making two key saves in the shootout to secure the 4–3 road win. 

Kincardine Bulldogs (2) vs Wingham Ironmen (3) SO 
Another shootout thriller saw Carter Coombs score the winner for Wingham after both teams went seven rounds deep. Jared Houghton tied the game late for Kincardine, but the Ironmen prevailed on home ice. 

Port Stanley Sailors (5) vs Mt. Brydges Bulldogs (4) OT 
Alex Joyce tied the game for Port Stanley with just over a minute left in regulation before Trent Clinton buried the overtime winner to complete the comeback on the road. 

Saturday Highlights 

Aylmer Spitfires (4) vs Lucan Irish (3) OT 
The Spitfires continued their strong start to the season with a 4–3 overtime win at home. Donovan Appleford scored twice in the third to give Aylmer the lead before Holden Clark netted the overtime winner. 

Port Hope Panthers (6) vs Trent Hills Thunder (3) 
The Panthers picked up their second win of the season behind a strong third period, scoring two power-play goals and adding an empty-netter to seal a 6–3 home victory. 

Streetsville Derbys (10) vs Port Dover Sailors (4) 
The Derbys’ offense stayed red-hot, posting 10 goals, and securing back-to-back wins. Aidan Russell (2G, 4A) and Mitchell Braedon (1G, 6A) led the way in a statement win for Streetsville. 

Mooretown Flags (6) vs Amherstburg Admirals (4) 
A physical West Stobbs Division battle saw 84 penalty minutes, but Carson Crawford stole the show, completing his hat trick with the game-winning goal in the final minute to give Mooretown the 6–4 win. 

Mitchell Hawks (4) vs Fergus Whalers (0) 
The Hawks handed Fergus its first loss of the season behind a shutout performance from Tyler Teves (48 saves). Colin Schultz added two goals and an assist to power the offense. 

Petrolia Flyers (4) vs North Middlesex Stars (3) OT 
The Flyers pulled off a road upset against the West Yeck Division leaders. After North Middlesex tied it late, Rhett Joy scored the overtime winner to lift Petrolia to a dramatic 4–3 victory. 

Sunday Highlights

Innisfil Spartans (3) vs Muskoka Bears (2) OT 
Jake Norman came up big for the Spartans, scoring both the game-tying and overtime-winning goals to give Innisfil a 3–2 win at home. 

Alliston Hornets (13) vs Huntsville Otters (3) 
Alliston continued its dominant start, improving to 6–0 with a commanding 13–3 victory. Top performers included Ben Smith (3G, 1A), Tristen Pitt (3G), Payton Palbiski (4A), and Nick Lamont (4A)

Fergus Whalers (14) vs Kincardine Bulldogs (2) 
After being shut out on Saturday, Fergus bounced back in a big way, scoring 14 goals — including seven in the first period — and featuring four multi-goal performances in the blowout win. 

Wellesley Applejacks (5) vs Paris Titans (1) 
The Applejacks earned their seventh win of the season with a convincing 5–1 road victory. Ian Speiran (1G, 3A) led the offense, while Logan MacMillan stopped 23 of 24 shots in net.
