PJHL Weekend Recap – October 31-November 2, 2025

CAMBRIDGE, ON – While several Saturday matchups were postponed as teams and fans rallied behind the Toronto Blue Jays, Sunday more than made up for the lighter schedule. From high-scoring thrillers, sensational goalie performances and clutch overtime winners, PJHL teams delivered an action-packed finish to the weekend, proving that even with a brief pause in the action, the excitement never stops. Here’s how it all unfolded across the league.

Friday Highlights

Port Stanley Sailors (5) vs Lucan Irish (2)
After the Irish jumped out to a 2-0 lead just five minutes into the game, the Port Stanley Sailors responded with five unanswered goals to take a 5-2 win. Clark Sandham and Rhys Smart each recorded one goal and two assists in the comeback victory.

Norwich Merchants (4) vs Tavistock Braves (1)
The Norwich Merchants earned a big road win over the red-hot Braves thanks to a multi-goal effort from leading scorer Tyler McDole and a strong performance from goaltender Nolan Chartrand, who stopped 32 of 33 shots.

Glanbrook Rangers (6) vs Streetsville Derbys (5)
It was an offensive showdown in Streetsville on Friday night. Glanbrook jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first period, but Streetsville battled back to tie the game with five minutes left. Braden Carruthers played hero for the Rangers, scoring the game-winner with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

Napanee Raiders (4) vs Frankford Huskies (2)
In a tightly contested matchup, the Raiders exploded for three goals in the final 10 minutes of the third period — including two from Andrew Carr — to secure a 4-2 win. Goaltender Jacob Brown was outstanding, stopping 43 of 45 shots for Napanee.

Saturday Highlights

Dundas Blues (12) vs Niagara Riverhawks (2)
After a big Friday win, the Riverhawks struggled to keep pace with the Blues on Saturday. Dundas piled on 12 goals, led by a five-goal performance from Owen McCambridge. Goalie Keegan Jackson stopped 41 of 43 shots to cap off a dominant 12-2 win.

Hanover Barons (5) vs Mount Forest Patriots (2)
In a North Pollock Division showdown between two top teams, the game was tied 2-2 heading into the third period. The Barons pulled away late, scoring three unanswered goals to remain atop the division standings.

Essex 73’s (6) vs Wheatley Omstead Sharks (0)
The 73’s continued their dominant run, earning their 12th win of the season with a 6-0 shutout over Wheatley. Standout performances included Noah Mathieson (1G, 3A), Marcus Levesque (2G, 1A), and goaltender Birk Cassels, who made 16 saves for the shutout.

Sunday Highlights

Port Perry Lumberjacks (6) vs Clarington Eagles (2)
In a heated East Orr Division battle, Port Perry capitalized on their power play, scoring on three of four opportunities to earn a huge 6-2 home win. The game featured 70 total penalty minutes between the two rivals.

Huntsville Otters (3) vs Penetang Kings (2)
Backed by a stellar performance from goaltender Darin Willis — who stopped 43 of 45 shots — the Otters pulled off a home upset over the Penetang Kings.

Wingham Ironmen (5) vs Mitchell Hawks (4) SO
In one of the weekend’s most exciting games, the Hawks built a 4-0 lead midway through the second period, but Wingham stormed back with four unanswered goals — including a shorthanded tally from Adam MacRobbie in the final minute to force overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, Noah Bloemberg and Kaeden MacDonald scored in the shootout while goalie Colin Gibbings shut the door, completing an epic Ironmen comeback win.

Picton Pirates (4) vs Trent Hills Thunder (3) OT
Another Sunday thriller saw the Pirates hold on for an overtime win. Gavin Wallace scored twice late for Trent Hills to force OT, but Owen Findlay netted his first goal of the year to lift Picton to victory.

Wellesley Applejacks (4) vs Woodstock Navy Vets (3) OT
Cooper Vickerman tied the game for Woodstock with just nine seconds left in regulation, forcing overtime. However, Hudson Parker scored his second of the game early in OT to give the Applejacks the 4-3 win.
