Program Announcement: NextStride

CAMBRIDGE, ON –  The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is proud to announce the launch of NextStride, a new player-focused program designed to support the more than 1,400 athletes across our league as they prepare for life during and after their junior hockey careers.

NextStride is built around one simple idea: helping players take their next stride — whether that’s on the ice, or into a career.

While competing at a high level in the PJHL, players are developing discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience. NextStride will now provide structured opportunities to connect those skills with pathways in the skilled trades and other in-demand industries. The program will offer exposure to apprenticeship opportunities, educational resources, industry connections, and mentorship — equipping players with practical options as they approach the final years of their junior eligibility and beyond.

The PJHL recognizes that junior hockey is a pivotal chapter in a young athlete’s life. NextStride ensures that when their time in the league concludes, our players are positioned with confidence, direction, and opportunity.

Through strategic partnerships and industry collaboration, NextStride aims to create meaningful bridges between the hockey community and workforce leaders — strengthening both our players’ futures and the communities they represent.
